What are Hybrid power solutions?
Hybrid power solutions from Powercom Solar are our commercial systems that utilise technologies to maximise the solar energy use and savings for our customers. These include but are not limited to battery storage technology, refrigeration/cooling system integration, and load shedding.
Commercial Battery Storage Solutions
Powercom Solar Commercial battery storage allows our commercial power customers to maximise the benefit they can get from their solar installations while also providing backup circuits to feed essential loads.
By using batteries, excess generation can be stored for use when solar production reduces due to cloud cover and overnight. This increases self consumption of the generated solar energy and reduces peak demand power requirements due to onsite generation.
A percentage of the batteries can be programmed to act as backup power during a power loss event. Select power circuits will remain energised by the batteries in the event of power loss.
Refrigeration and Cooling system integration
Solar production and heat events are those which generally coincide with each other. Our solar inverters can be monitored and used to control cooling systems to increase their power draw when the solar production is high.
An example is the Westerway Raspberry Farm. When the inverters are producing over 70% of their maximum output for over 60 seconds, the refrigeration set point is reduced. This stores the excess energy being produced in a refrigeration "battery" instead of exporting the excess to the grid.
Load Shedding
Load shedding is when the solar system turns of specific loads when solar production is low, or storage is running low in a battery backed system. This can be used to reduce the consumption of non critical loads during low solar periods.
