What is Off-Grid Solar?

Off grid solar is a self sufficient solar solution for sites with no grid access. Off grid power systems use the solar panels as the primary power generation on the site and therefore have a higher quantity of panels when compared to on grid installations. This increased capacity is designed to make the most of solar energy even through the winter months.

The solar energy is used directly by loads in the home and to charge the batteries during the day. Overnight the batteries are used to power the home. The amount of battery storage is also larger in an off grid install compared to a domestic hybrid battery install to ensure enough power is available without a grid backup.

On site petrol or diesel generation are essential for providing autonomy when the weather is overcast for many days in a row.

Off grid solar solutions make a lot of sense for areas where multiple poles need to be installed for grid access, or truly remote sites with no feasible power grid.

Why Powercom off grid solar?

Powercom Solar are the experts in off grid installation. We have dozens of self sufficient sites across Tasmania, Australia, and abroad.

We use the same installation approach for our domestic off grid systems as we do with our commercial remote area power systems. This means reliable generation year round with top quality components.

Even before going to site we pre-test and pre-program the components to ensure the equipment is operating within our strict performance parameters.

We take pride in our installations to make sure you are as happy with the end result as we are.

Off-grid installations require more care and maintenance when compared to standard domestic installations. This is why it is important to have local expert support to keep your off grid system operating at peak efficiency.
